I really want to start up Monday Motivation blog posts again – not *all* of them will be baby-themed (haha), but a few definitely will be! Starting with today’s post, all about non-toxic baby bath items. I’ve gotten a few questions from you guys about “clean” baby wash, bath toys, etc., so I thought I would dedicate an entire post to this topic! A lot of these items were on our baby registry, and we have loved every single one.

Towels and Washcloths

We use all organic towels and washcloths on Kennedy. There are a bunch of options out there, but we have really loved Burt’s Bees for a lot of her towels and her clothes! We have these Burt’s Bees hooded towels that are made of a soft and absorbent cotton that is 100% organic and GOTS certified. Not only that, but they come in a pack of two and offer several cute colors and patterns! We tested out a few different brands of washcloths, and our favorite has been these organic bamboo washcloths. They are SUPER soft to the touch, I even ordered some for myself to wash my face at night!

Baby wash

I did a lot of research before settling on this baby wash and it’s one of the best I could find. (Check out this article for all the things you should avoid when picking out a baby wash.) We use it all over Kennedy’s body and even to wash her hair (heck, I have even used it too when I shower haha). This particular formula is unscented and super pure – it’s a castile-based soap that also contains calendula (which is known to have soothing and calming properties). Just be warned, it is a HUGE bottle, haha. For that reason, it’s a little hard to travel with! But it will also last you for a really long time.

Bath Toys

Making bath time safe is about more than just finding BPA-free bath toys; I want to make sure Kennedy’s bath toys are free of plastic, BPA, PVC, phthalates, and other toxic substances. Plastic toys can leach chemicals into warm bath water, so I try and avoid plastic as much as possible. We have this rubber duck that’s made from natural rubber (latex) from the Hevea tree – all of this brand’s products contain no plastic, BPA, petroleum, phthalates, PVC or artificial additives. What I noticed about this rubber duck right away is that it doesn’t have any holes! Which is great if you’re concerned about mold growing inside. We also have these bath toys – they’re made of 100% silicone and Kennedy loves playing with them – they have little holes that the water pours out of and they come in fun shapes and colors.

Bath tub

We used this bath tub when Kennedy was a newborn and could not sit by herself. It’s free of BPA, lead and phthalates and is approved by The Gentle Nursery. It has two sides, an infant side and a toddler side, and is quite large, so you can use it from ages 0-2. We used the infant side with Kennedy, it has a reclined seat that supported her head and shoulders, and we also put down a towel on top of the plastic so that she was laying on a softer surface. While it does take up a lot of space, I like that you can use this bath tub anywhere in the house to bathe your baby. Side note that we do not use this tub any more, since Kennedy can sit up on her own, I just fill up our tub with a few inches of water and it works great.

Rinse cup

We have used this cute whale-shaped rinse cup every since Kennedy was just a few weeks old (and we still use it today). It’s specially designed to keep water out of your baby’s eyes and ears (you can put the soft lip right on your baby’s forehead). It’s free of BPA, phthalates and PVC and is sturdier than some of the other rinsers on the market – it even stands up when you’re not using it.
