Summer Sun Protection Faves

Summer sun protection

I don’t know about y’all, but I feel like the sun has been extra strong this summer! There have been many days I go outside and immediately feel like my skin is burning in the sun! I’ve been extra cautious and taking the necessary steps to protect my skin and the girls’ skin from the sun this summer, so here are some of our favorite items to keep our skin protected while we have fun in the summer sun!

Sun Hat

One of the most important sun protection items is a sun hat! Not only does is protect my face from the harmful rays, but it also protects my scalp and hair. I always make sure I have a hat with me, whether I’m at the beach, the pool or just playing in the backyard with the girls. I love this Brixton straw hat – it’s super cute, versatile and durable too!

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are also a must when it comes to sun protection! I think I have a pair of sunglasses in every car and most of my handbags too – I hate being without them! I love this trendy white pair and this larger cat-eye pair, and they’re both on sale for less than $50 right now.

Lainsnow Rashguard

When the UV rays are extra strong I like to take my sun protection a step beyond sunscreen and wear a rashguard to provide a physical barrier between my skin and the sun. I’m obsessed with LainSnow’s rashguards – they are super cute and they make matching rashguards for the girls!

Solar Buddies Sunscreen Applicator

My friend TeriLyn was using this sunscreen applicator on her kids at the pool the other day and I went home and immediately ordered it. I’ve never been so amazed by a product! You can put your own non-toxic sunscreen inside, and the applicator allows your kids to easily apply it themselves.

ThinkBaby Sunscreen

Ever since Beautycounter sunscreen has gone off the market, I have been on the search for a clean sunscreen for the girls and I think I finally found it! ThinkBaby Sunscreen is mineral sunscreen that has the cleanest ingredients and it’s water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, which is essential because my girls love the water.

Sun Umbrella

I love a good sun umbrella because it allows us to enjoy time outdoors while also staying out of the sun. This umbrella is such a classic option for beach days. We also love our Shibumi when the whole family goes to the beach it provides a large shaded area that’s roomy enough for larger groups.

Colorscience Sunforgettable Face Shield Sunscreen

I’ve been using this Colorscience tinted sunscreen for years to protect the skin on my face. It’s a mineral sunscreen (yay!) and applies almost like a foundation – in fact, I use this instead of foundation most days. It blurs imperfections and blocks out redness, leaving the appearance of flawless skin, all while protecting from UV rays. Before I do ANYTHING in the morning, I apply this. This brush-on sunscreen is great for reapplying throughout the day.

Lovely dress and cute platform sandals. It was nice to have plenty of bikini and exercise time for my 3 day weekend. Great sunblock options. Lovely hat. I need to show this to my boyfriend. He hates sunblock in general. He always avoids the beach till 4pm when he knows that he can’t burn. He had his burns in the past. Today back in the office styling a little pink dress with purple high heel mule sandals.
