Cozy Sweater Dress + I Need Your Book Recs!

How cozy is this look?! I love a good sweater dress, and this one is extraordinarily cozy (especially with a scarf and boots added in the mix!). If I could wear this outfit every single day of fall… I would!!! 🙂 I wore this one morning in Colorado. We ate at a place called Ghost Town every morning – they had smoothies, matcha lattes, avocado toast and breakfast burritos, and just the memory of it makes my mouth water.

Okay on to the next item of business – I am in the mood to read fall books! Please let me know your very favorite book that reminds you of fall – it can be a classic, or it can be brand new – it doesn’t matter! I’m going to compile a list of the best recommendations! I just read a new thriller that was sooo good, I finished it in two days, and I’ll share that in the post as well.

xoxo

That dress looks sooooooo cozy, and each time I see those boots I get closer to ordering them! My favourite books lately are the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear – they’re set right after WWI, and I heard about them through the Forever35 podcast. I think one of the hosts referred to them as “cozy mysteries” which is totally accurate. I also just finished “The Girl with All the Gifts” which was excellent, if not exactly fall reading material 😉

After the Last Dance by Sara Manning
I am reading this now – the story follows two women from very different time periods (the 1940’s and the early 2000’s). Whose lives eventually intersect. Each women’s journey sometimes takes them to dark places. This book has kept me captivated – wanting to see what happens next.

Hey babe love the outfit, as always! Just wondering, what is the color of your scarf? I think it’s the Jaipur Pink, but yours looks much more tan… xoxo

What color is the scarf? It looks khaki and I don’t see that color.

The book I’m currently reading makes me think of fall. It’s called Where The Crawdad’s Sing by Delia Owens. It takes place among the marshes of North Carolina. It’s about a girl who is abandoned but meanwhile there is a mystery as well…someone shows up dead. The book flips back and forth between 2 different time periods, the 1950s and 1960s. I must say it is one of the most well written books I’ve read in awhile, and I do read a lot.

  12. That sweater dress looks sooo good! I am on the hunt for something just like this, but maybe a little bit more budget friendly haha!
Really looking forward to your book recommendations post! I am in kind of a reading rut at the moment, work has been so busy that I did not get any time to pick up a book. But I hope that will change soon so that I can snuggle up with a brand new read 🙂

  20. I’m busy re-reading “Rebecca” by Daphine Du Maurier. I saw Emma Watson add it to her book club and I knew it was a great, slightly creepy story so I pulled out my gran’s 1948 edition to read it again. Love it!

  21. It’s not a thriller, but I think you might like “By Invitation Only” by Dorothea Benton Frank! It’s set in Charleston and Chicago and it’s about how two really different families (peach farmers and wealthy hedge fund manager and his socialite wife) interact when their kids are engaged to marry each other. It’s cozy and feel-good, which I like for fall.

On the slightly more thriller side, “Neverworld Wake” by Marisha Pessl was so good! It’s perfect leading up to Halloween.

  23. Not your typical thrillers, but lately I’ve been loving the romantic novels! I just finished Eligible which was one of my favorite books in a while & now I’m reading According to a Source.

Also The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

All quick reads & cute stories!

    Caitlin,

I have been a long-time reader of your blog, but I’m not sure I can afford your style. I’ve come to expect over $100 on most of your pieces (sometimes it’s over $400!) and I just can’t do that.

    • Hey Jules, thank you so much for the feedback! I’ve gotten a few similar emails about the same topic! I just placed an order for some less expensive fall clothes (all $50 and less) so look out for some more affordable looks on my blog next week 🙂
